The Detroit Red Wings’ top goalie prospect Petr Mrazek is making his message loud and clear on the ice: he wants and deserves an opportunity at the NHL level. In nine career NHL appearances Mrazek is 2-4-0 with a 1.74 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage and two shutouts. So far this preseason he has posted a 0.58 goals-against average in over 103 minutes of play, a .977 save percentage and one shutout. The 22-year-old inked a one-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season. He would have been a restricted free agent next summer. He has shown flashes of NHL-ready talent, and it may be the solitary reason why Detroit refused to offer Jonas Gustavsson a multi-year deal this summer making him a free agent after this season. We believe Mrazek will secure the backup position to Jimmy Howard next year. Your thoughts?
