The Red wings got the equivalent of a bunch of coal in their stockings last night during their game against the Buffalo Sabres. Sure they got some half decent presents, they light up the Buffalo Sabres for 6 goals giving them a huge boost in momentum heading int othe holiday break, but the price for the win was too high. The Wings lost both Stephen Weiss(again) and Niklas Kronwall to injury during the game. Weiss had only just returned from another injury, and what once looked like a promising resurgence for the frequently injured forward is now starting to look like more of the same, injury after injury after injury. In no way to I ant to discredit how well Weiss has played since his return, but the injury issues, and how frequent they have been are starting to outweigh his performance again, something that has become all too familiar to Red Wings fans. Add that to the fact that Kronwall took a nasty hit from Tyler Ennis that resulted in him being sandwiched betweenEnnis and Drew Stafford and you've got a terrible Red Wings Christmas coming up. The hit came during the second period, and you can clearly see the way Kronwall is awkwardly bounced between the two men in this video courtesy of the NHL.   General manager Ken Holland said Kronwall was day to day after the game, and we likely won't see an update before the end of the holiday break, however we will keep ypu up to date if one is provided. The more concerning news is that surrounding the status of Stephen Weiss. Weiss likely suffered a concussion, he admitted he didn't recall being hit after the incident. Say what you like about his injury issues but the Wings are 9-1-2 with him in the line up, and anytime he misses, including the past four games, is a bad sign for Detroit.
