Report: Devils' Scott Gomez receives a hefty fine for blatant elbow.

Scott Gomez is feeling a little lighter in the wallet today after delivering a blatant elbow to the face of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. The New Jersey Devils forward was fined the maximum amount under the collective bargaining agreement, forced to dish out just under $1,500 for his malicious elbow to the mouth of Emelin, the NHL's department of player safety announced. He was issued a five-minute major and game misconduct after leaving Emelin a bloody mess on Friday. Emelin is certainly no saint, but at least there was some form of discipline for his act.
