With
Mike Babcock now officially a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs the Red Wings begin their search for a new head coach.
However according to general manager
Ken Holland the search will be a short one, he has a very small list of names and he plans to meet with them over the course of the next few weeks.
It's clear that the leading candidate is currently
Jeff Blashill for multiple reasons. He's familiar with the organization, he's coached many of the players who would be a part of next year's roster, and perhaps most important of all he's believed to be ready.
That doesn't mean it's a done deal though,
Holland said today that his coaching list is two of three names. It's believed that that list was
Babcock, Blashill and former Penguins head coach
Dan Bylsma.
Holland was asked today if
Bylsma was a name he would consider during his press conference and he simply replied
"that's a good name."
