According to multiple sources the Boston Bruins Dennis Seidenberg will not have a hearing with the NHL department of player safety, which would mean he will not face any additional penalties following his hit on the Chicago Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews
“I would never want to hurt a guy. That’s the last thing on my mind,” he said. “If you go through the middle you have to have your head up, right? It was just unfortunate how (Toews) went into the boards. I thought I had his right shoulder but it just kind of happened and it just didn’t look that great.”The Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp also spoke on the hit following the game, and seemed to believe that Seidenberg at the very least did not intend to injure Toews:
“It was tough lose Johnny to a hit like that, Seidenberg has a reputation as a clean hockey player. He has a lot of respect. Having said that, we didn’t like that hit.”Bruins head coach Claude Julien spoke to the media after the game, and he put the onus on Toews:
“I’ve been saying that for a long time, we need to educate our players to protect themselves better, we keep turning our backs, we keep trying to curl away."Again based on multiple reports it appears the NHL sees it the same way Claude Julien does.
