The Dallas Stars may have been out of a playoff race and without star forward Tyler Seguin, but that didn't stop his teammate Jamie Benn from making history. The 25-year-old scored three goals and earned an assist to secure the Art Ross Trophy against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. He will go down in the history books as the first Dallas Star to ever win the prestigious award. Benn beat out John Tavares and Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby for the trophy. In front of a raucous home crowd, the forward notched two goals in the first period and an empty-netter in the third to tie him for the league's point lead. With time winding down, Benn did everything he could to get the deciding point that would put him ahead of John Tavares of the New York Islanders for the league lead. With 8.5 seconds left in the contest, he got his wish, earning an assist on Cody Eakin's 19th goal of the season. Despite their inability to qualify for the postseason in 2014-2015, Benn and the Stars are ending their campaign on a high note. The future is bright in Dallas.
