A prospect is being made to pay for a dangerous hit he threw on one of his opponents last week. At 6:56 of the 3rd period in game 2 of the AHL series between the Grand Rapids Griffins and Toronto Marlies on Sunday, Maple Leafs prospect Viktor Loov delivered a blindside headshot to Detroit Red Wings prospect Zach Nastasiuk.

From the AHL news release:

The American Hockey League today announced that Toronto Marlies defenseman Viktor Loov has been suspended for two (2) games as a consequence of a match penalty for an illegal check to the head of an opponent, assessed in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series vs. Grand Rapids on Apr. 26.

Loov will miss Toronto's next two playoff games, beginning with Game 3 of the series Wednesday (Apr. 29) at Grand Rapids. The Marlies currently lead the best-of-five series, two games to none.

Nastasiuk was down on the ice for a couple minutes before being helped off by the Griffins trainer and Xavier Ouellet.
