The NHL has announced their verdict in regards to the hit that Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan laid on Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang on Saturday. After reviewing the hit, the NHL's Department of Player Safety determined that no further discipline will be imposed on Doan. The check was one that left the Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman hospitalized. Thankfully he was released from the hospital this morning but it was determined he had suffered a concussion from the impact. From Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona: Assessment of Shane Doan's hit on Kris Letang per NHL Player Safety: "After reviewing the play carefully and from all angles, we have determined that this was an unfortunate result from a hockey play. It is not boarding, it is not charging, he doesn't hit him in the head. He finishes his check by shoving Letang and unfortunately he falls awkwardly. It wasn't really even a violent hit, although resulted in an unfortunate injury."
