By now it's no secret that the Red Wings are licking their chops at the idea of acquiring Buffalo Sabres behemoth Tyler Myers. At 6'8/220lbs, Myers is a beast on the blueline and would make an excellent addition to numerous clubs. The Sabres have made it abundantly clear that Myers is on the trading block and the asking price is young prospects. One of the names that came up between the is the Red Wings first round pick in 2013 Anthony Mantha. This put both teams at a stalemate, as Mantha represents one of the brightest hopefuls for the Wings'. By demanding a prospect the calibre of Mantha the Sabres have made a clear point and that is Myers will not come cheap. Myers is a former Calder winner and at 24 years old, his potential is limitless. Despite this, he has not been dominant and has struggled at times. Playing for Buffalo is certainly not aiding Myers, and if Myers were to be dealt to the Wings' he would surely profit from the success his teammates have retained for years. If the deal were to happen it would most likely be two prospects, Mantha being one of them. The Red Wings remain high on the young Mantha, and trading a budding superstar may be too much to ask from them. Neither side was willing to budge on the matter and talk ending quickly afterward. Is this a viable trade for the Red Wings? How much is Tyler Myers really worth?
