Professional athletes are among the most superstitious people on the planet and while in the world of sport especially superstition can go a little too far at times, it is important to remember that superstitions do exist for a reason.

Prior to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens, a group of Sabres fans were captured on video prematurely celebrating their victory over the Canadiens. While that in and of itself wouldn't have been a big deal, the manner in which they chose to celebrate had even some Sabres fans crying foul.

The fans were shown chugging what was presumably an alcoholic beverage out of a replica Stanley Cup, which resulted in several comments highlighting the fact that they were jinxing their very own team.

Unfortunately for the group of fans chugging beverages out of the replica Cup, this time superstition would ring true with the Sabres having an awful performance in their first road game of this series. The Canadiens largely dominated the Sabres on their way to a 6-2 victory in a game that contained plenty of rough stuff.

Here is a look at the video:

As you can see from the video not only are the fans clearly chugging out of a replica Cup, but a good bit of the beverage is wasted and spills out onto the ground outside of the Bell Centre. While the two men may at first appear to be wearing different apparel, they are both clearly Sabres fans with the fan lifting the replica Cup sporting the traditional colors that feature the buffalo with the cross swords, while the fan doing the chugging is wearing the goat's head version of the jersey.

Did these two doom the Sabres? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
