Sabres release video narrated by Rick Jeanneret to celebrate return to the playoffs.

As someone who had a deep admiration for the work of legendary Buffalo Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret, I can't find the words to express just how great a move this was from the Buffalo Sabres today.

On Saturday, the Sabres had another chance to put an end to their abysmal 14 year playoff drought and they managed to do just that without ever hitting the ice. A regulation loss for the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday afternoon was enough to seal the deal and send the Sabres to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in 15 years.

As you might expect fans in Buffalo were absolutely over the moon at the news that their long years of suffering had finally come to an end, but somehow things would get even better from there.

The Sabres of course wanted to celebrate the moment in the best way they possibly could and to do so they had to go back in time to what for many will always be the voice of the Buffalo Sabres, the aforementioned Rick Jeanneret. The Sabres released a video celebrating their big moment but what truly made it magical for me was the voice of the man narrating the video from beyond the grave.

Sadly Jeanneret passed away in 2023 before he got a chance to witness his beloved Buffalo Sabres break that terrible streak, and I can only hope that he is looking down with pride at what his team has accomplished today.
