There was another shocking incident involving a player taking a skate to the face in last night's tilt between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Anaheim Ducks. As Ryan Kesler takes to the wing to move into the Columbus zone, he loses his balance and his skate ends up in the air. Cam Atkinson of the Blue Jackets found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as he was skating directly behind Kesler. The skate ended up slicing Atkinson's face open just above the right eye. He falls to the ice immediately and looks to be in considerable pain. Luckily for him there isn't expected to be any permanent damage to his eye, only a laceration to his cheek. This seems to be a reoccurring problem recently in the NHL. So I ask you fans, should the NHL start to institute a rule regarding these injuries?
