Moments after Team Canada jumped ahead 1-0 against Switzerland with a power-play goal from Connor McDavid in the first period Friday, captain Sidney Crosby tried to extend the lead, only to be left shaking his head in disbelief.
Swiss goalie Akira Schmid delivered a jaw-dropping scorpion save on a breakaway at 6:30 of the first period, getting his left leg up to stop Crosby’s shot. The puck seemed to bounce perfectly off the skate blade in an impossible-looking stop.

Crosby later watched the replay on the team bench during the commercial break, his reaction priceless. Fans everywhere are still reeling from the highlight.
