Tkachuk tries to hit Crosby and it backfires horribly.
Florida Panthers star forward Matthew Tkachuk may have bit off more than he can chew on Sunday night, and no I'm not talking about his mouthpiece.
Tkachuk and the Panthers faced off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday in what was a meaningless game for the Panthers but a huge game for the Penguins playoff chances. Despite that the Panthers came out with their usual aggressive style, laying plenty of hits as they tried to wear the Penguins down, but to no avail.
The hit of the night however would not come from one of the Panthers but instead from Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who would put the aforementioned Tkachuk flat on his behind. Tkachuk came out of the penalty box and was racing Crosby to a puck along the corner boards when the two men came together, shoulder to shoulder.
Much to the dismay of Tkachuk, Crosby shrugged him off like he was no more than a child, with the Penguins captain barely moving while Tkachuk fell to the ice in perhaps the most comical fashion I've seen all season. The way Tkachuk bounced off Crosby and flopped along the boards before coming to a seated position on the ice looked like something you would be more likely to see in a comedy sketch than a hockey game.
