Suspension: Discipline for Preds' Volchenkov

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today that Nashville Predators defenceman Anton Volchenkov has been suspended for four games without pay for his cheap shot on Calgary Flames forward Michael Ferland. The hit occurred in Friday night's game at the Saddledome. Volchenkov clearly attempts to target Ferland's head on the check as he elevates is elbow to make contact. Volchenkov was assessed a two minute penalty for elbowing on the play. Ferland was in a fair amount of pain on the ice, but managed to skate to the locker room under his own power. He has been diagnosed with a concussion.
