The Minnesota Wild have had a frustrating season, something that has leaked out into the media as of late and yesterday was another sign of that. Early in the second period between the aforementioned Wild and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota's star defenseman Ryan Suter let his frustration get the best of him and he took a vicious cheap shot at Steve Down of the Penguins. A very uncharacteristic move for Suter. There was no question of Suter's intention on the play, he clearly stuck his elbow out in a effort to catch Downie going past him, and he succeeded leaving Downie down on the ice for several moments. The NHL has already announced that Suter will have a hearing with the league today. Here's the video. This gif also provides a good slow motion angle of the play. [embed][/embed]
