This is the kind of shift for the ages. This video is from December 2010 in a game between the Guelph Storm and the Kitchener Rangers when Tyler Carroll singlehandedly canceled a full 5 on 3 powerplay. Being on the ice for the entire 5 on 3 penalty kill for his team and having lost his stick, Carroll sacrificed his entire body in order to prevent his opponents from scoring. At the end of the 2:30 shift he had to get helped off the ice, badly injured. Even the opposing fans got up and saluted the courage and heart of the young man. This is what hockey is all about. That was beautiful! Carroll now plays for the University of New Brunswick.
