The Gold Medal game has delivered in a big way in the early moments of the first period with some incredible hockey on display on both sides of the ice.

During international competition physical play can often take a backseat to raw skill but on Sunday, Washington Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson showed that this won't be the case in today's game. Wilson, who is playing for Canada in this tournament, delivered one of the biggest you're ever going to see in an international Gold Medal game when he crushed Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin behind the American net.

Wilson saw Larkin coming around the other side of the net, trying to make a play on the puck, and Wilson did not hesitate to deliver the boom on the vulnerable Larkin. The impact was nothing short of incredible, with Larkin bouncing off of Wilson like a coiled spring and slamming into the boards as he spun around in mid air like a helicopter blade.

It looked scary for a brief moment as Larkin went head first into the boards, but thankfully he was able to get back up to his feet and would remain in the game.
