Big concern for the Capitals and Team Canada.
A big cause for concern for both the Washington Capitals as well as Canada's Olympic roster on Saturday night after Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson appears to have suffered an injury.
Wilson was injured during the first period of a clash between his Capitals and the Chicago Blackhawks when he was on the receiving end of a big hit from Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy. The hit itself was a solid body check from Murphy and I suspect that Wilson would have merely shrugged it off, and instead the injury appears to have been caused by the aftermath of the blow.
Wilson was knocked to the ice by the initial contact from Murphy but Murphy would in turn lose his balance and fall awkwardly after the initial impact. It was at that moment that the weight of Murphy's body appeared to lean into Wilson, right as Wilson's leg was already buckling under him. Wilson could be seen clutching at his right leg after the two men seperated and I suspect that is where the injury has occurred.
Wilson would leave the game following the hit and has not returned.
