It appears that the trade talks for Oilers winger David Perron are reaching a fever pitch, so much so that Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada, one of the most respected insiders in the business, believes a trade for Perron will be made in the next few days. Friedman is reporting that Ottawa, Buffalo, and Columbus have all joined in trade talks that already included multiple teams across the league. Just to give you an idea of how many teams are implicated, Detroit, Montreal, St. Louis, Chicago Philadelphia, Boston and Winnipeg are just some of the teams that have at the very least made inquiries on the possibility of acquiring Perron, and in some cases other members of the Oilers roster. For more details you can check back to our report from yesterday involving multiple teams. The big news from Friedman's report today is that it appears that the possibility of a mutli-team deal is a very real one. It now appears that at the very least, the Jets and the Blackhawks are involved in talks with both the Oilers and the Sabres for a deal that would see David Perron and Chris Stewart. However if we take into account the fact that both the Penguins, Flyers, Red Wings and Senators have all inquired about Stewart this season, and are all teams involved in the potential Perron deal, we could be in for a major trade deal in the coming days. Add to all of this the fact that the Senators have yet to sign Marc Methot, a defenseman that has also received a lot of interest from multiple teams, and who would quite frankly be a perfect fit in Edmonton, and the stage is set for a move in the next few days. And finally it appears the Columbus Blue Jackets are dangling center Artem Anisimov as trade bait, teams rumored to be interested in improving at center are many, and you can be sure the Blue Jackets are throwing their hat in the multi-team deal mix, senior vice president of hockey operations for the Oilers Scott Howson attended the Blue Jackets game on Tuesday night.
