Here are all the latest rumors from around the league today. Boston Bruins: It appears the Bruins general manager has finally admitted that his desire to shift the focus of his team to speed and skill may have been a mistake. Chiarelli told reporters that he is looking to add “heaviness” to his team, and is reportedly looking for players who can use their size and strength on the puck. Kings forward Jordan Nolan is attracting attention from Eastern Conference teams and Nolan who weighs in at 221 pounds could be exactly what Chiarelli is looking for. Pittsbursh Penguins: Hockey Insider Daren Dreger has reported that the Penguins are looking to acquire a top six forward, preferably a winger following the loss of Pascal Dupuis. He also hinted at the possibility that the Penguins could be taking a look at David Perron of the Oilers. From Dreger:
“Potentially, for sure. Pittsburgh absolutely is looking for a top-six forward and so that process probably has been amplified with the loss of Pascal Dupuis long-term. But anyone who watched the Penguins and the Leafs last night, all of the sudden you’ve got Blake Comeau, who’s kicked into high gear and he’s really giving the Penguins some offense. So I wouldn’t say that it’s an urgent matter in Pittsburgh just yet, but this is something that Rutherford most definitely is looking for. “I don’t know that David Perron is on his radar, but what I do know is Rutherford is one of those guys that he’ll make a list of available players, and players that he likes, and he’ll just continue to tick down that list until he finds the right fit. “So the hockey world knows David Perron is available. And David Perron sure expects to be traded, but I don’t think there’s any sort of official timeline as to when that might happen.”
L.A. Kings: The Kings have recently found themselves with some cap space after Slava Voynov was officially charged in his domestic violence case. It's been reported by hockey insider Bob McKenzie that the Kings are receiving considerable interest from teams in the east about forward Jordan Nolan. Buffalo Sabres: The Buffalo Sabres continue to get calls about Chris Stewart, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports that the Penguins and Senators are the two teams closest to making a deal, while the Fouth Period reports the Blackhawks, Bruins, Jets, Stars and Flyers are all teams also interested in Stewart. Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers continue to be the most talked about team in terms of potential trade, however there is nothing new to report on the talks involving their young players. At this time it appears the Oilers asking price may have scared away some of their potential suitors.
