Both men left everything out on the ice in an epic Rock Em Sock Em battle.
You don't see many like this in the National Hockey League anymore.
On Saturday night, Edmonton Oilers veteran forward Trent Frederic and Utah Mammoth veteran forward Jack McBain went toe to toe in what could very well go down as one of the very best tilts of the 2026-27 NHL regular season.
There was some real bad blood behind this one and that is perhaps why it turned out to be such a good scrap between the two men, with McBain having previously delivered a dangerous crosscheck to the back of Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl two nights earlier.
It was clear that Frederic wanted McBain to answer for that incident and much to McBain's credit he was more than willing to drop the gloves with the dangerous Frederic. Early on it looked like McBain would get the better of the exchange but when Frederic began to fire back shots of his own it was clear that he was in full control. Frederic would deliver several devastating looking uppercuts, one of which even took McBain's helmet clean off his head, before the officials stepped in to save McBain from any further punishment.
Frederic was sticking up for Draisaitl in this instance and it seems that the Oilers star forward very much appreciated the message that was sent. Draisaitl took to Instagram following the game and let everyone know just how grateful he was for Frederic stepping up in the manner that he did.
