Tuesday trade rumors: Brodeur, Methot, Byfuglien and more!

We will start with what we know for certain. The NHL GM's have voted to abolish the "Dry Scrape" between the third period and overtime. TSN's Darren Dreger was the first to report the news, the GM's felt it "killed the buzz" in the arena before overtime. "More definitive word from GM meeting. Dry scrape to be scrapped as early as this wknd...in favour of full shovel crews" said Dreger via twitter. Now on to the speculation..... Martin Brodeur: Brodeur has made it no secret that he is looking to join a team that will contend for a cup, sorry Buffalo Sabres fans. The Anaheim Ducks look like they have lost John Gibson for at least six weeks with a groin injury, they're style of play is perfectly suited to Brodeur, it seems that the Ducks have at least reached out to Brodeur and the two sides seem to have expressed some level of interest. Here are Brodeur's comments on his search for a team:

“For me, it’s not about ego or anything. I just love to play the game. I know I could help a team out somehow, and I just want to try to get an opportunity. The role will be the role that will be assigned to me"

Dustin Byfuglien: One of the worst kept secrets in the league, the Winnepeg Jets want Byfuglien out of Winnipeg while his value is high, and Byfuglien wants out of Winnipeg, period. Boston, Monteral, Philadelphia and New Jersey are the teams rumored to be in the running at the moment. The Jets do not want to wait until the trade deadline to make the move, and Byfuglien's value isn't likely to increase dramatically, expect a move sooner rather than later. Marc Methot: As Methot inches closer to his return, talk around him only continues to heat up, the Oilers, Flyers, Red Wings, and  Kings have all been teams implicated in the Methot talks. The Kings have no cap space with the Voynov contract on their books so I don't think they are a legitimate contender, however the Kings have already sent feelers around the league to see if any teams would be interested in taking Voynov off their hands. Despite his alleged domestic assault Slava Voynov is an NHL defenceman, that means multiple teams are interested in his on ice talent. There won't be any teams willing to make the move on Voynov until his situation becomes more clear.
