Not the kind of injury you want to see the replay on. Watch here.
The Dallas Stars cannot catch a break. They already have Matt Duchene, Lian Bichsel, Thomas Harley, Nils Lundkvist and Adam Erne in their loaded infirmary. After months of working so hard and overcoming so much to finally feel 100% again, Tyler Seguin had to be helped off the ice by his teammates after an awkward collision in the first period of Tuesday’s game against the New York Rangers.
Rangers defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov appeared to fall directly on Seguin’s right leg with it bending in quite an unpleasant and unnatural way… As he left the ice, you could tell he seemingly favored that leg as he left the ice.
At the start of Tuesday’s matchup in New York, Seguin had put up seven goals and 10 assists in 26 games.
This was supposed to be his time back after he was limited to just 20 regular-season appearances last season due to a hip injury that required surgery. Now just two minutes into game 27, he could be landing back on the long-term sideline.
To make things worse for the Stars, not only did Seguin never returned to the game, but Dallas also lost in overtime when the culprit in the injury was the game-winning goal scorer. Gavrikov gave New York a 3-2 overtime win.
After the loss, Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said that Seguin would be further evaluated Wednesday.
