There is really no explanation for this call.

Bad calls from officials are always extremely difficult to tolerate, officials are meant to be effectively invisible enforcer's of the rule, and their goal should always be to influence the outcome of a game as little as possible.

On Thursday night we were treated to an absolutely brutal call, one that really blows the mind when you consider it happened in the playoffs, and has absolutely no justification for happening, under any circumstances, ever. In case you can't tell this one annoyed me quite a bit.

It appears it was referee Kevin Pollock, who blew what was a clear goal by the San Jose Sharks dead as a result of a high stick, one that as you can see on the video never occurred, in fact there isn't even anything remotely close to a high stick, it appears this call came entirely from the official's imagination.

Thankfully the Sharks would score again and won the game anyways, but it's not hard to imagine how a call like this could have determined the outcome of a National Hockey League playoff game, and it's long past time officials should be held accountable for these types of blatant errors.
