UPDATE: Keith Ballard after hit from behind last night. (VIDEO)

As many of you know Keith Ballard was the victim of a brutal check from behind during last night's game against the New York Islanders. A little less than midway through the second period Ballard was hit from behind and driven into the boards, face first, by the Islanders Matt Martin. We now know that despite leaving under his own power Ballard was hospitalized after the incident, not surprising to the fans at Excel who saw Ballard convulsing on the ice after the hit. If by chance you haven't seen the video, here it is courtesy of the NHL: The hit drew a ton of controversy, from those screaming that the hit was a vicious attack on Ballard, to those on the complete opposite end of the spectrum feeling Ballard turning away from contact and not Martin's hit  was responsible for the injury.  According to Michael Russo of the Minnesota Star Tribune it appears the NHL agrees with the later group, as of this moment no hearing is scheduled for Martin. The Wild tried to get their own brand of justice, Kyle Brodziak went after Martin shortly after the incident.
