VIDEO: A look back at the life of the man we lost 4 years ago today.

Four years ago today the hockey world lost Derek Boogaard to an accidental  drug and alcohol overdose. We would eventually learn that Boogaard was recovering from a concussion at the time of the overdose and his death along with those of Wade Belak and Rick Rypien in a four month time framed really opened the eyes of fans to the dangers of head injuries. Boogaard's brain was found to be heavily damaged and his chronic traumatic encephalopathy, commonly known as CTE, was more advanced than those of former enforcers who had died much later in life. The New York Times did a great documentary on Boogaard "Punched Out: The Rise and Fall of Derek Boogaard," and if you've got the time we highly recommend you watch it.
