Some people are calling Corey Perry's series clinching goal in overtime against the Calgary Flames controversial, and while I don't see it, I suppose we only have the referees to blame. Early in the extra frame on a net-front scramble, the puck was loose in front of Flames’ netminder Karri Ramo, Perry ended up on his knees and made contact with Ramo while fighting to get his stick on the puck. Perry knocked it into the net after a couple of whacks at it and gave the Ducks the series victory. Ramo and the Flames immediately went after the referee for what they thought to be goaltender interference. While I will say that Perry does make contact with Ramo prior to the goal being scored, it is up to his defenseman Dennis Wideman to get Perry out of the crease without pushing him on his goaltender. Referees have been inconsistent all year when calling goaltender interference so it only makes sense that any bump on the goalie is going to have some fanbase up in arms. I will say that if they were to disallow this goal because of goalie interference, it would have been a pretty weak call all around. You be the judge:
