The lost art of the hip-check is something that every hockey fan knows and remembers very fondly. Although we see less and less of this textbook hit in today's game, some players still know how to get low and wreck their opponent. That's exactly what Erie Otters defenseman Kurtis MacDermid did in Game 3 of the OHL Final against the Oshawa Generals. MacDermid had a monster of a man in 6-foot-7, 208-pound Hunter Smith flying into the zone in front of him with a full head of steam. MacDermid did anything but back down and hunched over to meet the giant winger at the blueline. The hit he put on Smith sent him head-over-heels and crashing to the ice, much to the delight of the spectators in attendance. MacDermid was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Kings in September 2012, while Smith was drafted in the second round, 54th overall, by the Calgary Flames in 2012. The Otters went on to win the game 4-3, and the Generals now lead the OHL Final 2-1. What a textbook hit!
