A brutal hit in a Danish league playoff game has a former NHLer in some trouble today. Former NHLer Warren Peters laid a dangerous hit on opponent Lasse Bang that left him down on the ice and bloody. During the third period of the first game of the finals, Peters, who plays for Sønderjyske, a team based out of the Danish city Vojens, laid a vicious hit on Bang, who plays for the Esbjerg Energy. The hit left Bang limp as he falls violently to the ice and his face smashes the ice with enormous force. Trainer and teammates immediately go to Bang's aid and he requires the help of his mates to get back to the locker room. Peters was given a game misconduct and five-minute major penalty for checking to the head on the play. Peters, 32, played in 96 NHL games between the Dallas Stars, Calgary Flames and Minnesota Wild. There's no word yet whether there will be any discipline for this hit, but there will surely be some kind of sanction. This can't go unpunished.
