What can be said about Darren McCarty, the guy was simply sensational. Playing in an era where superstars required constant protection from opposing goons, McCarty was more than up to the task. McCarty was the kind of player who knew his role and played it to perfection. His Stanley Cup clinching goal in the 1996-1997 showcased a scoring touch most would not have noticed from McCarty and remains one of the most memorable goals in recent Wings's memory.
