Even though Dominik Hasek's time with the Chicago Blackhawks was short lived, he still has fond memories of playing backup to another Hall of Fame goaltender in Ed Belfour. Hasek played in 25 games over two seasons in Chicago going 13-4-2 with a .897 save percentage, a 2.58 goals against average and one shutout. Hasek was eventually traded to the Buffalo Sabres, in August of 1992, for Stephane Beauregard and a 4th round draft pick that later turned out to be Eric Daze. During the speech he gave for his Hall of Fame induction, Hasek said that he enjoyed his time as a Blackhawk but that there was “not enough time for both of us.” He was then “shuffled off” to the Sabres. It is still hard to believe the Blackhawks had this 1-2 combination of outstanding goalies at the same time. Hasek was a six time All Star, won the Jennings Trophy three times, the Venzina Trophy six times, the Hart Trophy twice and two Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002 and 2008.
