It is a golden rule as a goalie, do not play the puck unless you are absolutely sure you will not make a mistake. KHL goaltender Michael Garnett learned this lesson the hard way as he not only misplays a shot, but essentially hands the oppossing team a goal in the process. Traktor Chelyabinsk faced off against Barys Astana on Tuesday night in the KHL. The game's opening goal was a stinker. To make matters worse, the shot comes from the length of the ice. Garnett attempts to handle the puck off a bounce off the end boards. It skips over his stick and winds up on the blade of Nigel Dawes. He pots the puck in the wide open cage, leaving Garnett feeling pretty embarrassed. As a goalie, do not take chances like this.
