It's not every day you see a headbutt in the National Hockey League but we got one on Tuesday night. During a match up between the New York Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago's Andrew Shaw headbutted New York's Brock Nelson and left Nelson down on the ice. The hit appeared to result in Shaw's helmet hitting Nelson right under the chin, but it's not 100% clear from the replay. In Shaw's defense Nelson clearly instigated the whole affair with several crosschecks to Shaw, but as we all know it's often the man retaliating that gets called for the penalty. Here's the video.
