It goes to show that the NHL certainly picks favourites when it comes to discipline. In mid-January, Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand received a two-game suspension for slew-footing. The suspension was a fair one and even Marchand admitted to making a dangerous play. The NHL took no time at all to suspend Marchand as a repeat offender. Now here is where it gets a little convoluted. In last night's tilt between the Bruins and New York Islanders, a similar play was made but this time Marchand was the victim. Isles' forward John Tavares blatantly takes the legs out from underneath Marchand in a textbook slew-foot. What makes matters worse is that the referee is literally staring at Tavares as he does it. No penalty was called on the play and Tavares is not expected to receive further discipline from the league. It's unfathomable that no call was made on the ice. You would have to be blind as a bat to miss that. I'm speechless.
