Erik Karlsson recorded an assist on the Ottawa Senators’ opening goal, but the offensive defenseman has also been a big factor without the puck. He’s been throwing his body around all game, including his big open ice hit on Montreal Canadiens blueliner Nathan Beaulieu. Tom Gilbert throws an ill-advised "suicide pass" Beaulieu's way and Karlsson has him lined up from the start. He throws all his weight into Beaulieu, stopping him dead in his tracks and leaving him a little shaken up. There has been some controversy as to the cleanliness of the hit, as the principle point of contact is Beaulieu's head. However, he never leaves his feet and it appears he does not have the time to react. You be the judge. [iframe id=""]
