As a broadcaster you would like to be as creative and entertaining as possible. However, in your quest to be funny or entertaining you must know that some things are just sacred. Pittsburgh Penguins TV analyst Stan Savran has learned that first hand, as he made a joke he has no business making during the intermission of Saturday's Penguins vs. Blue Jackets game.
He referred to the Penguins first period performance as "suffocating". He then suggested that the Penguins should be wearing "I Can't Breathe" T-shirts. Those t-shirts are being worn by people around the world to protest the controversial decision by the grand jury in the Eric Garner case.
Savran apologized shortly afterwards for the comment, but for som the damage has been done.
