The NHL has come down hard on Florida Panthers defenceman Dmitry Kulikov after his dangerous hit on Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin. Kulikov has been suspended four games for an “excessively low” hit on Seguin during Friday’s game in Dallas. Kulikov hit Seguin with a "low-bridge", taking him out at the knees and leaving Seguin crumpled on the ice in considerable pain. Seguin is expected to miss 3-6 weeks of action with a knee injury. The NHL deemed that Kulikov “bends severely at the waist and throws his body across Seguin’s knees, flipping Seguin dangerously to the ice and causing a significant knee injury. This is clipping.” When Boston's Brad Marchand was suspended 5 games for clipping Vancouver’s Sami Salo, the hit was deemed "predatory". It is worth noting that in Kulikov's case the NHL deemed that he simply mistimed his hit. Here is the explanatory video of the incident. [iframe id=""]
