Referee's often miss calls and make mistakes, but when they screw up during the announcing of a call there is no mercy shown. Ryan Getzlaf had a goal go under review in Sunday's game between the Anaheim Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning, and the referee needed a minute to collect himself and decide whether it should count or not. Corey Perry threw a pass out front for Getzlaf, which deflected off his skate and into the net. The goal is initially waved off, but they decide to let Toronto be the judge. Sure enough, there was no distinct kicking motion on the part of Getzlaf, so Toronto ruled it a good hockey goal. Too bad the referee got mixed up and called it no goal, much to the dismay of the fans in Anaheim. It eventually got sorted out and the referee in question was forgiven for the error. Make up your mind buddy!
