When Columbus Blue Jackets forward Dalton Prout knocked Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic to the ice with a vicious right hand, he cemented his legend among all NHL fans who are not fans of the latter. On Nov.21 in the closing seconds of overtime and the game tied 3-3, Prout and Lucic exchanged pleasantries and it looked as though we were going to see Prout/Lucic 2. Unfortunately for Lucic the fight was a little one sided. Prout dropped Lucic to the ice with a single shot heard around the world. Since then Prout has been receiving much praise from fans all over North America. Some fans have even gone as far as writing Prout thank you letters! The night after the fight in Philadelphia, Prout had a conversation he won't soon forget. The Province's Jason Botchford writes: "The refs never talk to me," Prout said. "I don't wear a letter. But before the game, a ref came up to me and said 'Good job, last night.' "Later," Prout added, "the shorter ref came up and said 'Nice right.'" So apparently even the referees hate Lucic as much as the rest of the players and NHL fans. "I can't help but smile when I think about that game," Prout said. How could this not make your day?
