This one is very upsetting. In a heartfelt video released Monday, The Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed that forward Pascal Dupuis will not return this season after suffering through blood clots since the beginning of the year. In the video, general manager Jim Rutherford said that Dupuis will not be cleared to return until June. Dupuis, who hasn't played since Nov. 15, recorded 11 points in 16 games for a Penguins squad who could use his scoring punch heading into the playoffs, especially considering Dupuis has 44 career playoff points in 97 games. Blood clots are extremely dangerous for athletes as their elevated blood pressure and flow during competitive play can cause the clots to travel. Despite the disappointment he must be feeling, we hope he can be fully cleared as soon as possible and return even stronger next year. Good luck Pascal.
