Even when the Leafs manage to do something right, there is someone who says it was wrong. There has not been much for Leafs fans to cheer about lately, and possibly the only good moment of last night's loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, was ruined by Eric Staal playing big brother. If you think that Phaneuf deserved to fight after the CLEAN check he put on Jordan Staal, you need to watch another sport. I remember the good old days of hockey's past where if you landed a clean check on a guy, the other team would not retaliate, as that is the game. Eric Staal wanted to act like a big shot, as if Phaneuf had intended to injure his little brother. Give me a break already! The puck is in Jordan Staal's skates, and he throws a shoulder to shoulder hit, without leaving his feet. That is a hockey hit ladies and gentlemen. This trend of players starting fights over normal hockey plays is really appalling and a disgrace to the game. Let the retaliation come after one of the many dirty plays we see yearly, otherwise you just look like a goon. Rant over.
