If you are a hockey fan, you are probably accustomed to seeing all manner of things tossed onto the ice during a game. Detroit has the infamous Octopus, the Panthers have rubber rats and Leafs fans have begun throwing jerseys this season. But just when you thought you had seen it all, enter the ECHL. We witnessed The Bakersfield Condors "Teddy Bear Toss" earlier this season and it quickly became one of our favourite promotions ever. However, the Condors decided to go in a totally different direction this time around with “Undie Sunday.”Like the Teddy Bear Toss, when the Condors scored their first goal of the game, fans began to toss various undergarments to the ice in celebration. In the end, 7,670 brand new bras, underwear, boxers, socks, undershirts and diapers littered the ice inside Rabobank Arena, according to the team. That broke last year’s total, which ended up around 6,000 pieces of underwear. As usual, the Condors asked for that all undergarments be donated to several local non-profits in the Bakersfield area. The view from ice level is really something to see. What a fantastic display for an even better cause.
