"Vlad The Impaler" (VIDEO)

Vladimir Konstantinov was undoubtedly one of the most aggressive Red Wings' to ever wear the red and white. Konstantinov was drafted 221st overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, after managing to get a Red Wings scouts attention at the 1987 World Junior Championships, where a brawl broke out in the USSR/Canada game. "He was the only one of the Russians who fought back." He was nicknamed "Vlad The Impaler" for his vicious body checks. He was an orchestral piece of the 1996-1997 Red Wings team that defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup Finals. Unfortunately, it would be his last season as a tragic limousine accident left Konstantinov without the use of his legs. He left us with so many memories, a true warrior for the ages.
