44th player in NHL history to reach the milestone
The Philadelphia Flyers came into Chicago on the wrong day.
It hasn't been the start to the season the Hawks wanted so tonight, they decided to beat up on the Flyers. Marian Hossa took advantage of the beat down and scored his 500th career NHL goal in the process.
Hossa has had a fantastic career in the NHL. Reliable at both ends of the ice and as his numbers show, he can also put the puck in the back of the net.
In his 19 NHL seasons, Hossa has played 1240 game and scored 1093 points. If not for all the injuries he has had over his career, he might be a lot higher on the career points list and probably would have scored his 500th goal a couple seasons ago.
The thing that makes him such a good player is he is just as good defensively as he is offensively. He is a great person and as you saw by his reaction, he was ecstatic about reaching the milestone. His teammates were just as happy for him.
Congratulations Marian!
