3 names eliminated from Canucks GM search.
There have been several names linked to the Vancouver Canucks as they look to bring in a new general manager to help turn around what was recently voted as the worst run franchise in the entire National Hockey League, but now that list has begun to narrow down with several names being knocked off.
This week, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared his insights into the Canucks general manager search, listing several names that had been connected to the job while also revealing which ones were out of the running.
"Shane Doan, Jeff Tambellini, Brad Pascall, Ryan Johnson, Patrick Burke, Ray Whitney, Evan Gold, Ryan Martin, Brett Peterson, Jamie Langenbrunner... Those are the ones I know about," revealed Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast.
That is an already shortlist but Friedman narrowed it down even further by striking 3 names off of it.
"I believe some people have been told they're out," said Friedman. "I think Patrick Burke was told he was out, I think Ray Whitney was told he was out, I think Ryan Martin was told he was out."
There may be a pair of frontrunners emerging as well with Friedman revealing that he was hearing positive things about two candidates in particular, although he admitted they may not be alone.
"I've heard positive things about Doan, I've heard positive things about Gold but there might be others," admitted Friedman.
It sounds like we are rapidly approaching a resolution when it comes to who will guide the Canucks into the future.
