Over 20 NHL agents have voted and the result is embrrassing.
A rather humiliating poll has been conducted, humiliating not because of the poll itself but instead because of what it says about one of the National Hockey League's most unfortunate franchises.
On Monday, The Athletic released the results of a poll in which over 20 NHL agents were polled on a variety of different topics that pertain to the NHL and the sport of hockey. One of the spiciest questions in the poll simply asked "What is the worst-run franchise in the NHL?" which as you might expect produced some very interesting results.
The results were shocking to say the least. In spite of the fact that there were only 23 votes for this question, and 32 teams in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks dominated this category with a whopping 7 votes. That represents nearly a third of all the votes cast in this category, something that really highlights what NHL agents think of the Canucks franchise.
The second place team, the New York Rangers, only received 4 votes by comparison which, again, truly highlights just how bad things have become within the walls of the Vancouver Canucks organization.
You can hardly blame the agents for responding this way given what has transpired in Vancouver in recent years. It all began with a feud between star forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, a feud that eventually led to Miller being dealt to the New York Rangers in a highly controversial trade deal. Even Quinn Hughes, the Canucks former star defenseman who would be traded shortly after Miller was shipped off to New York, expressed how much the Miller trade negatively impacted the team.
"To lose that guy the very next year … that was probably a fracture of everything," said Hughes as per Thomas Drance.
This has all led to the Canucks having by far the worst record in the NHL this season, and with no clear plan on how they will be moving forward after this season.
