3 Dallas Stars players missing from morning skate before Game 7.
The Dallas Stars may be short handed in Game 7.
The Dallas Stars have given their fans a bit of a scare in their preparation for Game 7 of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Calgary Flames.
Dallas Stars insider Matthew DeFranks of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that there were 3 players notably absent from the Stars morning skate on Sunday, with those being forward Tyler Seguin, forward Roope Hintz, and of course injured forward Luke Glendening. Of the 3 players absent only one was to be expected, with Glendening likely out for a little while after taking a huge hit from Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov in Game 6.
As of right now the Stars have not yet provided an update on why Seguin and Hintz were absent today, although we expect to have that update for you shortly.
Update: It sounds like the crisis has been averted although no doubt the absences are still not a good sign. According to head coach Rick Bowness himself, Sunday's morning skate was an optional one which would explain the absences for both Seguin and Hintz. That being said, I can't imagine that either player is at 100% if they opted to skip out on their final preparations for the biggest game of the season so far.
Bowness himself appeared to confirm as much when he indicated that both Seguin and Hintz should be good to go tonight, not that they would be but that they should be. Perhaps that was merely a poor choice of words on the part of the Stars head coach, but at this time of year any kind of comment like that is going to be hyper scrutinized.
Unfortunately when it comes to veteran forward Luke Glenning, Bowness was even less optimistic. Bowness would only say that Glendening will be a game time decision for tonight's Game 7, and after the hit he took from Zadorov I fully expect that it is more likely than not that Glendening will be forced to sit this one out.
Stay tuned for more updates on all 3 players as we get closer to puck drop.
