A huge day of waivers with some big names suddenly available.
We have our biggest day of waivers yet around the National Hockey League with rosters rapidly approaching the deadline by which they must be finalized, and as a result we have a ton of notable names on today's waiver wire.
A total of 43 players have been placed on waivers by their teams today making this a truly massive day of waivers and I find it hard to believe that there won't be teams around the league who will lose some of the players they waived today. First let's take a look at all the names on today's list:
Aspirot, Jonathan
Blumel, Matej
Dipietro, Michael
Steeves, Alex
Dunne, Joshua
Primeau, Cayden
Ahcan, Jack
Middleton, Keaton

Heinola, Ville
Frank, Ethen
Stevenson, Clay
While they might not be the first names that catch your eye today I would keep a close eye on the goalies on this list including Michael DiPietro, Clay Stevenson and Cayden Primeau. Both DiPietro and Stevenson have previously been mentioned as targets of interest for rival teams and with them suddenly available for free, I suspect there is a strong chance at least one of them will be claimed.
There are however established NHL players available at every position on waivers today with the likes of veteran forward Sammy Blais and veteran defenseman Justin Holl serving as just two examples of what is available.
Blais is currently on a 1 year deal with an average annual value and cap hit of $775,000 making him an incredibly inexpensive pickup however that isn't the case for everyone on this list today.
Holl is at the opposite end of the spectrum in the third year of his three year deal, one that carries a hefty cap hit of $3.4 million for this upcoming season. This makes Holl unlikely to be claimed by any teams that are even close to the salary cap ceiling, however teams with an abundance of cap space could potentially choose to take on his cap hit for this season.
We won't know who has been claimed until Monday, so stay tuned for more on this massive day of waivers in the NHL.
