A bad Monday morning for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A bad start to the week for the Maple Leafs.
It's a rough morning for the Toronto Maple Leafs as early indications would appear to suggest that the team is currently pretty banged up.
The first indication that not all is well in Toronto came when the Maple Leafs made a pair of callups, bringing both forward Pontus Holmberg and forward Alex Steeves up from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies.
Those concerns would be confirmed a little later with reports indicating that the Maple Leafs were missing two men on the ice. Both trade deadline acquisitions Luke Schenn and Ryan O'Reilly were absent from practice on Monday and the news didn't get any better from there.
Maple Leafs captain John Tavares was also spotted wearing a grey extras jersey, indicating that he may also be banged up after being on the receiving end of a huge hit from Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers over the weekend.
As James Mirtle of The Athletic suggests, this would appear to indicate someone is going to LTIR.
Update: Head coach Sheldon Keefe has now confirmed the worst for Leafs forward Ryan O'Reilly.
All of this suggests the Leafs are having a tough start to the week.
